Holywell Trust deliver Day One of the EXPAND (Exploring Places and New Dialogues) Project Mystery Tour on behalf of DCSDC PeacePlus Team

EXPAND is an interactive, ‘hands on’ approach to exploring place and identity within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area. It aims to build the personal and professional experience of people who design and deliver peacebuilding and good-relations programmes to others. It is primarily for community workers & volunteers to explore place and identity in the Derry & Strabane Council area.

Day One of EXPAND project took place on Thursday 21th October. The group visited the Islamic Peace Centre were they took part in a ‘myth-busting’ session, and sampled some delicious food.

We then visited New Gate Arts & Cultural Centre in the Fountain area of the city, where were learned about the number programme, partnerships and work areas they are involved in.

This was followed by an very interactive Japanese drums workshop with Foyle Obon. The final visit of the day was to the Gasyard Centre in the Bogside, which included a visit to the Peacemakers Museum, dialogue with some community leaders, and an interactive music session (more drums!). It was a thought-provoking day, with many participants visiting the locations for the first time.

Day Two will take place on Thursday 19th November. To register visit here.
