Forward Thinking workshop with David Phinnemore (QUB) on 24th June 2026, 7pm

David Phinnemore (UK) is Professor of European Politics in the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics at Queen’s University Belfast in Northern Ireland, and Visiting Professor at the College of European in Bruges and Tirana. His academic work focuses on the European Union – notably its institutions, decision-making procedures, external relations and enlargement. Much of his most recent work has been focused on Brexit and its implications for the island of Ireland. He has recently coordinated a four-year ESRC-funded project on Governance for ‘a place between’: The Multilevel Dynamics of Implementing the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland which explored the evolution of this unique aspect of Brexit.

In this workshop, David will be outlining the most recent polling and analyses from the project's regular opinion poll survey of attitudes to the Protocol in Northern Ireland/Windsor Framework.

As part of the project, the research team commission 'temperature testing' to gauge public opinion on the Protocol/Windsor Framework.  LucidTalk  conduct regular surveys to determine attitudes on a range of issues relating to the Protocol/Windsor Framework and its implications for Northern Ireland.
