Forward Thinking workshop with Emma Rooney from European Movement Ireland Wednesday 3rd June 7pm

Emma Rooney is Senior Policy Officer at European Movement Ireland, an independent, not-for-profit organisation that works to build public understanding of and participation in the EU — through campaigning in support of European values, fostering informed debate, and supporting communities and organisations across Ireland to participate in and influence EU policy and decision-making.

Emma leads on North-South and EU-UK engagement and plays a central role in the organisation's all-island outreach and research programme, including the annual Island of Ireland EU Poll, the only poll dedicated to tracking public sentiment on EU issues on an all-island basis.

The 2026 Poll was launched on 6 May 2026 and surveyed attitudes towards a range of issues, including EU membership, Northern Ireland’s place in Europe, trust in institutions, and concerns at the EU level.   The poll also survey respondents in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland how they would vote if a referendum were held tomorrow on a united Ireland in the EU.

During the workshop Emma will be outlining the key polling results.

Emma holds a BA in French and International Studies and an MSc in International Public Policy from Queen’s University Belfast.
