A rights based look at the NI Troubles Bill 2026- Part of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival 2026

Holywell Trust will be holding a lunchtime seminar to take a look at the new Northern Ireland Troubles Bill 2026 that is currently working through the Houses of Parliament. It is the Labour government’s response to the previous government’s controversial Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023 that was widely rejected by many victims and survivors, political parties, and the international human rights community. It also resulted in the Irish government lodging an Inter State case to the European Court of Human Rights, as well as challenges brought in the domestic courts by bereaved families. Will the new legislation be any better?

When: Tuesday 8th December, 1.00pm - 2.00pm

Where: Holywell Trust, 10-12 Bishop Street, Derry- Londonderry

Who: The Victims Commissioner, Joe McVey; Paul O’Connor, Pat Finucane Centre; Sara Duddy, Holywell Trust.
